A Home When Your Child Needs You Most

Ronald McDonald House Providence keeps families together through every difficult day at the hospital.

About Us

When a child is hospitalized, the hardest part for a family is often just figuring out where to go. Ronald McDonald House Charities of New England addresses that directly, providing housing and support programs for families whose children are receiving medical care. The Providence location at 45 Gay St sits close to the hospitals where families need to be, so parents and caregivers can focus entirely on their child rather than logistics.

Families who have stayed here describe something that goes beyond a place to sleep. There is a steadiness to it, a sense that someone thought carefully about what a parent in crisis actually needs. Whether a child's stay lasts days or weeks, the house is designed to make a grueling time feel a little more manageable. Reviewers consistently use words like clean, supportive, and safe, and with a 4.8-star rating across 54 reviews, that reputation is well earned.

Ronald McDonald House New England serves both Providence and Boston, extending its reach to families across the region who might otherwise face impossible choices between being near their child and having a stable place to rest.

What We Offer

Ronald McDonald House Providence offers three core programs, each built around a single idea: families should not have to face a child's medical crisis alone or unprepared.

Housing for Families is the foundation. Families with hospitalized children can stay at the house, keeping them close to the care their child is receiving without the financial and emotional burden of scrambling for accommodations. Ronald McDonald Family Rooms, located within or near partner hospitals, give families a quiet space to rest, regroup, and breathe during long days of waiting. The Care Mobile program extends support beyond the walls of any single building, bringing services directly to families in need across the community.

Together, these programs form a safety net that catches families at one of the most vulnerable moments of their lives. If you are looking for a cause that turns a donation directly into relief for a family in your community, this is it.

"My baby was born prematurely via c section. It was nice knowing there's a house so close to hospital and where my husband and I could just focus on recovering and nicu visits. The concept of the house is great and its very clean, whoever they are not able to support you as you may think. We were there during a blizzard weekend and the house had no water stocked for us to drink. Our boy has 3 weeks to mature, we checked out after day 2"

"My 16 year old son was at Hasbro for almost 5 weeks after a brain injury. I stayed with my son at the hospital everyday until his transfer but often went to RMDH to get a snack, to do laundry, or to just step away from all of the hospital business while still being so close to him. The staff at RMDH was kind, compassionate, accommodating, helpful and offered an ear when I needed it. I was so grateful to have the opportunity to have a place to go where I felt I could get away and where some truly concerned and very good people offered to not only myself, but all the guests, a place to feel normal. There aren't quite words to express the gratitude I feel for the people who helped me through such a terrifying, stressful and sad time. Thank you especially to Gail, Karen, Sue and Michelle for your compassion, your kindness, your gentleness and your time. What RMDH offers is beyond anything I couldve ever imagined. A lovely place for families of sick kids. You're appreciated more than you know."

"Can't say enough good things about this place. I slept here as Hasbro only allows one overnight guest at the hospital. They had dinner available. Close to where your kid is in the hospital. Sleeping helps you be available and present for your child during the day. Showers keep you feeling human. RMDH made us have one less worry as our child was struggling for their life. THANKS! Kudos to all the volunteers. It really does make a difference for families."
